DM4401: delivering radio location data to the dispatcher

Request the Motorola DM4401The request “needs two-way radio with GPS” does not describe the control system. For the DM4401, it’s important to understand who needs the coordinates, where they’re coming from, and where they’ll be seen. Buying a single car does not create a map of the park.
Terminal capabilities and application task
Motorola’s description for the DM4401 includes built-in GPS and Bluetooth for data and audio. These capabilities are related to the terminal. For a useful result, the receiving application, infrastructure, compatible devices, configuration and necessary services are separately agreed upon. They are not automatically included in the station price.
Start with one clear action of the dispatcher: for example, see the last position of the assigned machine. Find out which app is already in use and who is serving it. If the application is not available, write down the desired result, the number of machines and users; do not replace this task with the promise “GPS will work everywhere”.
What does the DM4401 show?
The DM4401 has numerical display and LED indicators. The full-color screen of the neighboring model DM4601 can not be transferred to its characteristics. If an operator needs long names, menus, or some other way to display data, this should be considered when selecting, rather than being discovered after installation.
The photo of our position shows the front panel, but does not prove the configuration, set of active functions and the presence of all accessories of a particular instance. When buying, the full labeling is verified; the designations DM4401 and DM4401e are also not used interchangeably as the names of the same device.
Write the data path in a single chain
It is useful to make a functional description: the terminal in the machine, the operating radio system receiving the application, the dispatcher’s workplace. For each site, specify the responsible and already available equipment. This is a design coordination scheme, not a ready-made electrical circuit or a promise of compatibility of unknown programs.
If Bluetooth is used, specify the exact accessory or data device model and the desired connection scenario. The mere presence of Bluetooth does not guarantee work with any phone, headset or program. For coordinates, the conditions and frequency of receipt, display and actions in the absence of a fresh message are separately agreed.
How to Accept Results
Acceptance is conveniently linked to real actions: the selected machine is correctly defined, the expected event is received in the application, the dispatcher understands the time of its receipt. Separately check voice and user actions. Updating the coordinates does not prove the serviceability of the entire radio communication system.
Record what data and settings are transferred to the customer, who has access to them and who is responsible for the service. Don’t promise off-the-shelf integration just by the name of the MOTOTRBO series; its composition and boundaries should be clear before payment.
To buy the DM4401 in Moscow, Kazan, Novosibirsk or another city, send a model of the operating system, the name of the application, the number of machines, saved parts and details. The station, necessary accessories and coordinated work will be issued with a clear statement with the final price; delivery will be confirmed separately.

Is the car card included in the radio price?
No, the finished application, infrastructure, services and works must be explicitly included in the agreed quotation.
Does the DM4401 have a color screen?
For this model, Motorola specifies a numerical indication and LED indicators. The DM4601 color display is not a DM4401.
Does Bluetooth guarantee any headset or program?
Nope. The applicability of the selected accessory, device and scenario is confirmed separately.
